A Review of Ammonia - Based 2 Thermochemical Energy 3 Storage for Concentrating 4 Solar Power

چکیده
9 ABSTRACT | The development of a thermochemical energy 10 storage system based on ammonia, for use with concentrating 11 solar power is discussed in this paper. This is one of a group of 12 storage options for concentrating solar power, some of which 13 are already operating commercially using molten salts. The 14 ammonia storage development has involved prototype solar 15 receiver/reactors operated in conjunction with a 20-m2 dish 16 concentrator, as well as closed-loop storage demonstrations. 17 An ongoing computational study deals with the performance of 18 an ammonia receiver for a 489-m2 dish concentrator. The 19 ammonia storage system could employ industry-standard 20 ammonia synthesis converters for superheated steam produc21 tion. A standard 1500 t/day ammonia synthesis reactor would 22 suffice for a 10-MWe baseload plant with 330 large 489-m2 23 dishes. At this stage, an updated economic assessment of the 24 system would be valuable.

Taking the ANU Big Dish to commercialization
The ANU 400m “Big Dish” is familiar to most people in the Renewable Energy Community. The first prototype was completed in 1994 and research and development aimed at supporting and improving the technology has continued within the ANU Solar Thermal Group since then. In 2005, Wizard Power Pty Ltd was established by a Canberra investor in order to take the Big Dish technology to commercial deploy...
متن کاملPower and Fresh Water Production by Solar Energy, Fuel Cell, and Reverse Osmosis Desalination
This paper presents sizing, energy management strategy, and cost analysis for a configuration consisting of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels, fuel cell (FC) storage system, and reverse osmosis (RO) desalination technology for combined power and fresh water production. In this system, PV is the main power supply source; fuel cell is a storage system accompanied by Hydrogen production and storage d...
متن کاملTECHNOECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF AREA II HYDROGEN PRODUCTION - PART II Hydrogen from Ammonia and Ammonia-Borane Complex for Fuel Cell Applications
The aim of this analysis is to assess the issues of cost, safety, performance, and environmental impact associated with the production of hydrogen by so called "Area II" technologies, not presently funded by the U.S. DOE Hydrogen Program. The hydrogen (H2) rich feedstocks considered are: water, hydrogen sulfide (H2S) rich sub-quality natural gas (SQNG), and ammonia (NH3). Three technology areas...
متن کاملCost and performance analysis of an integrated solar combined cycle with two tanks for indirect thermal energy storage
In this paper, the annual and economic performance of an integrated solar combined cycle (ISCC) with indirect energy storage tanks is investigated. The study includes four scenarios, in which the combined cycle performance was studied exclusively in the first scenario. In the second scenario, the integrated solar combined cycle (ISCC) was examined, and the use of supplementary firing instead of...
متن کاملThermal energy storage for CSP (Concentrating Solar Power)
— The major advantage of concentrating solar power before photovoltaic is the possibility to store thermal energy at large scale allowing dispatchability. Then, only CSP solar power plants including thermal storage can be operated 24 h/day using exclusively the solar resource. Nevertheless, due to a too low availability in mined nitrate salts, the actual mature technology of the two tanks molte...
